DaDesktop

FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power BI and VBA, is Excel available inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)

  1. No, we don't provide MS Office inside DD (Windows 10 and 11 Pro). We only supply a DD VM and a Training room
  2. Trainers should prepare a free trial account of MS Office for all delegates
  3. Otherwise, they should use their own MS Office account

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've introduced an easy-to-use method to upload files from your own machine to the DD desktop. One small limitation is that at present, only one file can be transferred at a time. However, it's simple to create a zip or archive file with all the files you need that can then be copied over easily to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If you're using a cloud storage system, please remember to log out of your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you're using the Chrome browser, go to "chrome://settings/system" and turn off the hardware acceleration option

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register state that a trainer cannot access the wiki
  2. If you want to send something for editing on the NobleProg wiki, please copy and paste the content and send it to the trainer via email (a PDF is also acceptable)

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to improve performance?

Yes! Please whitelist any domains that follow this pattern :-

  1. *.npg.io
  2. https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. Trainers can first configure the DD settings (RAM, CPUs, and Disk)
  2. Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to set up multiple virtual machines and configure the network between them
  3. Once the setup is complete, you can clone to delegates in seconds
  4. For assistance, please contact DaDesktop Support

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware
  2. For example, 512 GB of RAM can be used as 512 GB × 3
  3. Maximum disk per server is 250 GB; each desktop can have up to 16 CPU threads; RAM configurations can be customized.

8. Can I download the video from the training recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can now be downloaded by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. The video includes an audio recording if you use the audio from the training room

9. Which browser should I use for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work perfectly
  2. Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, are not fully supported

10. Why is there a significant delay when using DaDesktop?

  1. Check your network connection; DaDesktop performance depends on your local connection speed
  2. Check the server location; when the coordinator creates the desktop, they always choose a server close to participants
  3. Turn off your VPN, or switch it to PAC mode. Also, please disable any security applications, particularly those that affect WebSocket operation, which is necessary for smooth DaDesktop performance.

11. WebSocket is blocked or not supported by the network

Accessing the Remote Desktop depends on WebSocket

  1. Your device might be blocking it. Check settings/configurations that block WebSocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, within proxy settings, if the "Use the same proxy for all protocols" option is ticked, WebSocket won't work (because it sets the "SOCKS host" with a proxy). Untick it and leave "SOCKS host" blank. That should fix it.
  2. Alternatively, the network itself could be blocking WebSocket, not your device. You'll need to contact your network administrator to get WebSocket unblocked.

12. What GPU support do you offer for 3D applications, etc.?

  1. Please see this GPU page for information regarding GPU support

13. Are there any potential issues or solutions?

  1. Generally, using DaDesktop is like using any standard Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few minor issues that may arise when using specific software applications in a training environment, particularly when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation?

  1. No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, primarily due to licensing issues that frequently arise.
