DaDesktop

What DaDesktop Isn’t

DaDesktop is a piece of software that doesn’t yet fall into a clear category. Sometimes, it’s simpler to explain DaDesktop by mentioning what it isn’t and how it stands apart.

Online Conference

Is DaDesktop Online Conference software like Zoom or Teams?

Typically, you’d need to use Zoom, Teams, Skype, or Wechat alongside DaDesktop.

DaDesktop might eventually include built-in conferencing software, but that’s not a priority.

What is similar between let us say Zoom and DaDesktop?

Both offer basic chat features.

Public Cloud

Is DaDesktop like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or Aliyun?

Public cloud services are meant for hosting applications. DaDesktop, on the other hand, is built for people to work with remote desktops.

What is similar between AWS and DaDesktop?

From a user’s standpoint, there aren’t many similarities. Both let you access a remote machine and run software. AWS EC2 is built for system administrators, while DaDesktop is tailored for training participants, trainers, course coordinators, and management.

Some companies still tap into AWS or other cloud services for remote course delivery. Although a typical public cloud setup is pricier, slower, and less convenient than DaDesktop. DaDesktop is purpose-built for course delivery, not general computing.

Learning Management System (LMS)

Is DaDesktop like Moodle, Rise UP, Open edX or other LMS?

LMS platforms are typically geared towards facilitating education such as university courses or are built for online learning. DaDesktop, meanwhile, is designed for instructor-led corporate training. Its target group includes corporate employees, government personnel, and so on. It isn’t specifically aimed at school or university students.

DaDesktop concentrates on instructor-led course delivery, with the instructor present throughout the training.

What is similar between LMS and DaDesktop?

DaDesktop includes a set of features that overlap with LMS and even go beyond them.

With DaDesktop, a course administrator can enrol students, track attendance, monitor engagement, verify connections, and even record students’ screens during the course.

This is largely automated. For instance, a trainer doesn’t need to manually check attendance—the data is logged in the system. DaDesktop can record a participant’s location, connection duration, which exercises they completed, and which they skipped, etc…

Participants who missed a course can watch recordings and practise in an identical environment to what was used during the live session.
