Issues with Trial Licence when linked to a MAC address

Machine details:

The problem is that GraphPad ties its usage of a trial machine to a MAC address. When the Fresh Start machine is cloned, it will normally use the same MAC address. Normally this isn't an issue, but here the application reports the licence has already been used, as it has on a previously cloned machine. The machine may be on a different server or data centre, even on a different continent, and it will report this error.

So here's the workaround: change the MAC address. On Linux, this is straightforward and well documented, but on Windows it's less so.

Changing the MAC address inside Windows using the usual recommended methods won't work, because the machine's qemu.conf file will override any MAC change inside the operating system. So while you can change the MAC address in Windows 10, doing so alone won't fix the issue.

This is because the qemu.conf file contains a configured MAC address. This address can be changed to provide a different MAC, and therefore allow a different licence key.

To make this work, you'll need to set 'Network Isolation' to 'Disabled' on each machine; then the MAC address specified in qemu.conf will be applied.
